Help with monti

I got a real good sized frag of orange Monti cap from Leighton,

Well I have it about mid way up in the tank almost in the middle of the tank, But it has started to get blochie and loose its colors on some spots?

It's the only SPS in the tank, I have a lot of LPS and softies, but nothing is really near it so I am pretty sure that it is not getting stung by sweeper tentacles. I have a 72 gallon bowfront, with 2x250 MH pretty new bulbs just a few months, 4x54 T5 actinic. I am a little light on flow only have the mag 12 for a return and one mj modded, so around 25 times flow. but it is in a semi turbulent spot in the tank.

All parameters are well within good range and everything else in the tank is doing pretty good.

2 false percs,
3 reef chromis,
cleaner shrimp,
Cuke,
Linkia,
misc snails.

Does this need to be further or closer to the light? Does it need a lot more flow? I really don't want to loose this coral? any advice wuld be appreciative.

Mine only did then when one of the following occured - low magnesium, low Kh, or high TDS

My KH has always been a slight bit low, 10 KH. I actually don't have a mag test had'nt even considered that one. I'l run out and grab one today or will have someone test it for me.

10 is fine. Mine was like 4. :lol:

Every monti cap I've gotten faded to almost a white color within the first couple weeks. It stayed that way for a month or two and then colored back up. My orange cap is now about a foot across after two years.

You might be seeing the same thing.

If you do lose it then you can have one from me. I'll be bringing a bunch of free ones to the frag swap.
