My skimmer is only about a month old and I have it all the way closed. the water keeps flowing over the cylinder in a day..its like there is no skim its real dirty water. It is usualy thick skim...it dosnt seem to bubbling in the cylinder like it was.....any one who could help......thanks everyone

Is the water level constant in the sump? If the skimmer is in to much water it will overflow. The air line could alsombe clogged with salt or something else in ther try cleaning it out.

i cleaned the tube and it worked a little better but not like before.......I dont know why I would have to raise it if it was working for a long time before........if you think it will help, i will try it????????

Was it brand new when you bought it? And it worked right outta the box. Hmm. Weird, they usually dont' work worth a crap for a week or 2. So your shoulds just started making good junk for the last 2 weeks. Well, water level would do that. Welp, what kind of skimmer is it? And is it a Hang on Back?

Oh that^ explains a lot. I ran a Super Skimmer 65 for a few years and it would randomly overflow from time to time. These are super touchy skimmers anything can upset them, putting hands in tank, feeding, change in water level is a huge thing with these. I always ran mine super dry. I had the valve on the pump wide open and the red knob is what I used to tweak the level. Are you running it in sump or HOB? If ran in sump it work much better, no changing water level. I also had the tube that goes from the pump outlet to the skimmer as short as possible. If the pump is to deep in water it cant pull in enough air, the venturi is way to small. I drilled mine out and it pulled in more air. Your should really look into getting a better skimmer. Coralife skimmers suck.

Have you added anything at all to the water? Mine tends to overproduce big time whenever anything is added to the water. Also try messing with the sponges & tube in the bubble diffuser box. This skimmer is extremely finicky in my experience. I ended up removing the bubble box completely and going with the 1" pvc mod from the link provided above.

I did hear theese coralife skimmers stink....I was told to buy it....Im going to take the whole thing apart and clean it.....thanks for all your help!!! I will let you know how I make out......I have had my hands in there messing around and I got a new return pump. I dont kow if that matters or not.....I add reef fusion 1 and 2 every 3 or 4 days...if that matters.......if I have to keep doing this every month I will get a new skimmer....Oh and it is inside my sump

If you are using the bubble box on the out let remove it. It work better with it off and if it is in sump totally unneeded.

Some skimmers are really difficult to dial in. It took me a while to figure mine out. With mine, constant water level was a must. Also, once you get it dialed in, leave it alone. As mentioned above, lots of different things affect the rate at which it will remove the goo. If you check on it and the bubbles are low in the neck, leave it alone and see if it self adjusts. Once I got an ATO and started leaving it alone, it started working like a charm.
