Help with Overflow

Hi, I just installed my sump but my overflow keeps gurgling. It's giving me a headache. How do I get it to stop. Thanks in advance.

Is the pump too powerful? I have no hands on experience with a sump but have read several threads on gurgling and ways to keep it quiet. Noise is a big issue with me, and if you use a less powerful pump the gurgling noise will be reduce. One person said go to your bathroom sink with bucket of water dump it fast you will hear the gurgling noise, then slow it down a lot the noise is almost nothing. There was one post on FMAS around November. I think it had links to one big thread on gurgling. I will try to find it, there several mods that people says helps.

cut a piece of plexi to cover the overflow. Mine was much nosier when first installed. I don't know if its quieter or I got used to it.

You must of had the same problem as I did when I set up my overflow. Click the red house and you will see how I set mine up as well as fixed it.

Its a simple fix and cost about $5 in parts if you have the tools.

A quick fix is to stick a piece a small airline tubing down the drain hose to the point where the air is being trapped. You'll know because the gurgling will stop. Keep the end of the tubing out of the water, you can hold it in place with a plastic tie. Later you can try one of the more elegant solutions.
