hi guys kinda new but i could use some help with this. so here it is i live in fl on a brackish water creek and i was just fishing and caught a big jack with a remora on it i let the jack go and set up a little 20 gal for the rem with the water it was in. i checked the salinity and it said 1.004 that is almost fresh right? so what im asking is how is this possible i thought they were out in the ocean i dont want to put him in my 180 saltwater i know that will be bad. but i have a big fresh water pond do you think its possible hes already almost fresh. also hes about 5 inches

thanks

It could follow its host into brackish but neither one would stay for long i believe. That SG is so low you could probably keep freshwater fish in it, just a metaphor.

I do not think a remora would survive in freshwater for any length of time beyond hours. There are various types of remora, some living in fresh however. I dont really know without knowing which remora you have, and probably still couldnt tell with a picture.
I have kept remoras on my bigger sharks and they have always been in full saltwater.

One of mine on a lemon shark pup. Full salt
