Help with Seaclone skimmer

Hi I have a Seaclone skimmer and it hasn't been working as it used to, I put a bigger pump on it and it was working fine but now it hasn't been working anymore, so I decided to clean it out well I saw the the connector at the bottom of the j loop was leaking a little so I decided to change out the o ring, well as I was putting the tube back in the black plastic cracked, so I decided just to cut the j loop off and just put a custom tubing on it but now it's still not working..any inputs on this?

I say buy a better skimmer, the seaclown is destined to break anyways

yeah that's what i've been reading..any suggestion as to what bran I should be looking for at a decent price, kinda tight on budget right now..I have a 55gallon tank with corals and fish and a sump with calerpa and live rocks in it.
