Help with tank I plan to buy

He told me the tank has been up for 2 yrs.... It has a berlin skimmer plumbed straight from the tank and then it returns to the sump. It has the moon lights then the t5's and 2 250 Halides in the hood. It also has 3" sand bed with built in overflow. My concern is that I would be moving everything 2 1/2 hrs to get to my house with no tank set up. I was going to have 60 gal of pre made salt water heated and ready to go but I will have to setup and do something with livestock the same day. I will have to setup the entire tank and then put everything in it. What do you guys suggest? thanks for any help! I plan on purchasing this tank next weekend.

I moved my aquapod between school and home (2.5 hours away) 4 times a year so it can be done even with a larger tank. I used rubermade bins for the liverock and bagged the fish and corals. The fish and corals were placed into a cooler. I would do the same thing for that tank.

Thanks for the info.... I hope it will go well! This will be the 1st tank I have had in 7 or 8 yrs...

If the sand bed gets alittle disturbed should I hook up some type of canister filter to help with the build up from the sand? I will try not to disturb it but you no how things go... I have a small fluval maybe I could get some de-nitrate and put that in the filter?? Thanks for any help! I don't want to kill stuff off.

Denitrate media won't do anything if there is H2S(otherwise known as Hydrogen Sulfide) built up in the sand bad and seeing as how there is a pretty good sand bed in that tank there could be build up. It will also be a pain in the neck(back in this case) trying to move that tank with that sand still in it. Boy I don't know what to tell you other than getting all the livestock out before even attempting to remove or touch any of the sand. Then once you have it moved set the tank up and fill with your pre-made water and do some heavy protein skimming while the fish are in a big enough rubbermaid with a heater and sufficient powerhead to keep the alive and happy. I've moved a 90g tank 3 times (it was FW) and my 125g once and all livestock made it all 4 times. I just threw my sand bed out when I moved the 125 1) because I hated the oolite sugar grain sand 2) I was so worried about H2S build up since I never had touched the sand once.

BTW is that a Naso Tang I spotted in the first picture on the right? What size tank is that?

Thanks for the info! The tank is a 60 gal witha 10 gal sump... I will find out for sure if that is a Naso tang ...... I read they need a 120 gal tank or bigger. I was more interested in the corals and will find out today about the fish for sure.Could I put the fish and corals in the same rubbermaid container while I set up ? Or should I setup 2 rubbermaids? Sould I empty the sand out and wash and reseed with some from tank?Should I buy somemore live sand from pet store? The tank is acrylic so maybe it wont be to heavy??? By the way do you think 400.00 for all is a ok deal?

I was thinking of getting a 40lb bag of this in case I need to wash the sand
Ocean Direct Caribbean Live Sand orginal grade.... Would 40lbs be enough to mix with the other sand to keep everything from spiking to much? Thanks

Any advice? If I do this I need to order the sand today so it will be here by the end of the week. Thanks
