I just bought a tank and i got live rock and a yellow tang but i dont have any salt water if anyone lives close to jackson and could help i got money if needed give me a call or text 7316086868

If you are just setting up a new tank you should return the tang from where you bought it or find someone with an established tank to hold it until you are ready. It probably won't survive the new tank cycle. Maybe do a little more research on setting up a new tank.

wow. thats like starting a heart transplant operation without your second heart....

read the stickies in the beginner forum.

Kroger....36 cans of kosher salt. You'll start by mixing ketchup, franks red hot and faucet water in a metal 55 gallon drum. Ratios determined by your tang's preference....this can be tricky if you don't speak fish. Then you're going to take 36 grit sand paper and try to remove as much skin from your body....rub the salt in....if any left snort it.

Seriously though you're going about this all the wrong way.....give the tang to someone with an established tank and a little experience. Then read read read!!!! Then read some more....ask all your stupid questions in here, we don't mind.

You might check out the Jackson Area Reef Club Forum on *********. Or check with Dave Coles at Below Sea Level in Jackson. We have a very active local club.

Wow, tuff crowd...LOL

Did someone sell really sell you a tank, rocks and a fish on the same day? I am guessing they did not know your situation. Unless you bought it from an individual who bagged the fish when you picked up the tank/rock, a LFS would most likely hold (or buy it back) for you until your tank is ready. If not, post an message on the Reef Central Jackson site (JARC). I am sure one of them would help you out since they are much closer than the Memphis reefers.

Good luck to you and the fish!

Bud, please send me an IM. JARC no longer has their forum on RC and RC will not allow me to type in the site where the forum is now. I strongly encourage you to contact Dave Coles at Below Sea Level in Jackson. He is located on Wiley Parker at Carriage House and will be more than willing to work with you.

I am confused. There is a link to a Jackson club at the RC Jackson site and there are people posting? Are there two clubs (one that RC allows links and the one you cannot put a link on) in Jackson?

I know the Jackson RC club had a big bruhaha a while back and some former members left RC in a huff. I went to the link on the RC website and I guess you have to be a member to read and communicate with them? I don't understand. If we all eliminated our public RC discussions and set up firewalls to our local club, doen't that really limit the benefit of RC? What if everyone did that? Wouldn't RC just be a bunch of private links?

If that is correct, it seems to me to lessen the benefit from reading and obtaining knowledge from others throughout the site/world? Otherwise, I guess you can join every club (if they let you) and then have to go from link to link.....that would seem very inefficent and few would actually do it.

When I was in Florida I saw a RC club that did the same thing? Why? Inquiring minds want to know?? :fun4: Do we need our firewall so all of our discussions are private, and no interlopers can try and steal all of our for local for sale deals? :hammer:

JARC still has RC forum open, but you will notice that the one poster recently looking for mushroom, was directed to the new forum (*********). I am unsure why exactly this was done. I belong to both WTMRAC (charter member) and JARC.

Click here to find our forum.

I would suggest reading and finding out as much as you can about this hobby. I would also encourage you to attend some club meetings so you have the opportunity to talk to others that have "been there" and "done that." That way you learn from other people's mistakes and have a more enjoyable start in this hobby. Choose a club and then just be active so you can learn.

WTMRAC website is: www.wtmrac.com
Our website is: jacksonreefclub.com

Sorry, I just noticed this. Almost all of our communication is out in the public part of the forum. We do have a private forum section (the only section for only club members) for club business and another public section for local selling. We have no special great firewall to keep people out. We are not China. :lmao:

Take care.

Cannot imagine why....:uhoh3:
The easiest method is usually the first to try.
I'm guessing, he started by using the internet to find water, ie posted this thread, waited 10minutes and then went to another option. Probably called a local fish store afew minutes later and picked up some water.
Panic is a amazing thing.

He just never came back to inform us of this.

I got the similar names mixed up (Reefdiver and Techdiver). "Reefdiver" said they blocked his link to the JARC site and they no longer have their forum on RC. Is he in the different JARC club? If not, why is he saying they block him? Poor Bud, no water and mix messages for JARC help?

Well speaking of China, they produce a lot of clones, so who is the real JARC and who is the clone? (nice transition unh?)

He did get help from JARC and Below Sea Level. Reefdiver is a she and I tried to type in where the JARC now has an active forum, but RC blocked out the name the two times I posted it.

What she meant is they block the link to our new forum. FYI: Wtmrac has more than one forum as well.
