Help!

Yesterday I purchased a firefish and after floating the bag for 15 minutes I emptied the bag halfway and started adding my tank water slowly for the next 15 minutes then placed it in the tank. It went and hid in my rocks but was out swimming this morning. I walked by the tank and noticed it was stuck to the side of my powerhead and immediately turned it off. Now it is hiding in between the rock. I noticed that it had white marks on it's side. Is there anything I can do to help it survive?

The fish was already sick for it to get stuck to the power head. As for anything you can do is watch it and see if it will eat. If he eats then it may come back around but in most casesit is a 50/50 chance when a new fish is added to the system it will live or die. Has the fish been at the store a while or was it a new arrival. Some fish are caught with posion and will die within 2 weeks and the is not anything you can do to help it but try to buy from a store who buys from major supply companies. But even then you can that can did for shipping issues. It is best to buy fish that are at a store and eating well.

As of now it is not eating and isn't swimming around. It is very stiff like a board and laying on the bottom of the tank but is still alive. I don't think it is going to make it:(

I hate to say it buy you might have lost that one. You could take it out and place it in another tank to treat for the wound, or you could place it in the freezer and make it easier on the fish. Did you just get one, I have found with dartfish, when I bought them I would get about 3-5. They seemed to do better in a new home when there is few of the same they can swim with.
Sorry

You are correct Ade, I lost the fish. I only got one since my tank is fairly new. I didn't want my water parameters going crazy. But I think in the future I will maybe a pair since my tank is so small and aren't they terroritorial as they get bigger?

Didn't you just set up that tank with new everything last week? I thikn its a bit soon to add fish. That is a rather small tank and even though you have nice live rock..... you may want to wait another week or so. Do you have any crabs or snails in there yet? THat will get you some movement and also help with the dead stuff on your rock. My .02

It's been 2 weeks. I have some crabs and snails that I bought yesterday. I figured one fish wouldn't overload my tank. I really don't think that is what happened though.
