Hi my parents have a 5.4 megapix digital camrea and every pix i take looks like crap. What setings should i use on it.

My step dad also has a fujica AX-3 film cammra and a fuji 135mm lens but i want a digital so...?

5.4 megapixle camera means nothing. That is just a silly number companys use to sell cameras. What brand is it (Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony, Kodak...) What model is it? i.e. "Canon PowerShot S3"

I just answered someone with likely similar problems here:

Your max aperture is f/3.3 (smaller number ie f/2.8 is better). This reading is like the gauge on a wire or shotgun..actually that is exactly what it is. The smaller the number, the bigger the opening in your lens. Your shutter speed range from 2 seconds to 1/500 of a second (1/500 is better) and your max ISO is 400. Please read my posts in that thread and post sample pictures explaining just why your unhappy here.

It looks like a sharp little camera for your sister's birthday party but not optimized for shooting low lit fish tanks. With patience and practice you should still be able to achieve quality results though.

If i could take pixs of the one in that fourm i be happy:D but al mine are dull and dont look like what im taking a pix of. My lighting in my tank is a 192 watt pc over a 46 bow so... how would i change the ISO or the f/3.3?

over a 46 bow so

Ahh the dreaded bowfront aquarium. Taking pictures through that curved glass is tricky at best. Not likely to get good results there. You need to find your flattest surface to shoot through. Good luck.
