My clam has been closed for two days now. I assumed there was a crab in it or something and didnt know what to do. I lifted it up, and there was little hesistation and its foot dangled a little. The is completely closed so at this point i cannot see any blue lip. What do i do? Is my clam dead?

Thanks, Elan

They can remain closed for quite some time if they've been through a major shock or disruption, even a day or two. You mention a blue lip, so it's a maxima or crocea? Leave it undisturbed and make sure all other factors are good, and it may open again. If it was attached, you may have pulled the byssal threads, thus the foot dangling. The fact that it's closed tight and not gaping indicates it has some life left.

please list your fish and inverts??

hopefully you haven't damaged the foot, can you post a pic of the clam.
