It's been over a year since I took a break from Seahorses. I loved breeding and raising them so here I go again. I miss them!! I had a 75g reef tank set up and decided I wanted seahorses again so I sold off all of the non seahorse safe livestock (2 frogspawns are still pending pick up and will be removed prior to seahorses being added) and replaced it with macros and seahorse friendly critters.
While I was waiting for the macros to grow out in QT and the pods to multiply, I came across an ad on CL for a 65g RR tank. When I looked at the ad...it was actually MY TANK that I sold before I moved to Las Vegas lol. I knew this 100% since I custom built the stand and sump specifically for my 2 breeding pairs of seahorses I had at the time.
I called the number and promptly bought the tank back from her
Joy Joy Joy...I love this tank and stand. I really was not happy with the height on the 75g RR tank for seahorses.
I set up the 65g RR tank and transferred everything from the 75g. There should not be a cycle since everything was well established. If anything there might be a tiny one just due to moving the sandbed over.
Sooo New Old tank is up and running...the sandstorm cleared in less then 24 hours...and everything is happy. I am purchasing the 2 pairs of seahorses from Tami. I love the fact that she has healthy H. Erectus AND she only lives 2 hours from me. I will pay for them next Friday and I HOPE to have them Wednesday 8/27.
The only thing I have left to do is transfer macros from the QT tank after I am sure there are no bad things in them. I actually got macro once with flatworms in it...grrrr never again will I just throw it in my tank without at least 2 weeks in QT.
Ahhh I am so happy!!! I liked my reef tank...but it never compared to my seahorses. While I am waiting for the Seahorses to get here...I will start collecting everything for the future fry setups. With 2 pairs there WILL be fry...and soon since the pairs are larger horses already. I also picked up both Hikari and PE mysis. I prefer PE...but hikari is easier to get where I live. It is always nice to get them to accept both just in case there is a time when one is out of stock.
