Here's An Easy One. Flow

Just trying to guage what would work well for my tank. I have a 110 with a mag 9.5 retrun and a modded MJ (Oceanflo) and I think I will add one more MJ mod.

Right now with the return I have about 2500 gph on the low side of flow that is mostly blasting right on the rocks. My 110 is the tall version so I don't have length to deal with and with the height I put my powerhead at one top corner and point it directly at the rock pile and it gives almost all of it a nice blast. Is a second unit that will bring me up to close to 5000 gph really nessesary? I dont need the eye sore or heat if its not needed.

Now I know there are a number of guys that stick 225 HP outboard motors on either side of their 10 gallon SPS tank but I really dont want to discuss the crazy tanks. Just what the average SPS joe is doing that is working well.

I'd add a second one personally. We're talking 11w here, so heat shouldnt really be a concern.

I dont think 2500 gph is really enough in a tank that size. 5000, and you should be fine, until your colonies get really big.

i wouldn't have it pointed directly at the rocks, and i agree 2500 is not enough for sps

Thats what I was thinking. Although I wish one would be enough, for nothing other than what I have to do to get another one of those things.;)

I already have plans in the works for a second unit that should take me up to 5000 on the conservative side.

Not pointing them at the rocks causes it to bounce off the glass and give me sand storms.
