Hermit Crab Breeding

I have about 14 Hermits in my NC 24, do they normally breed in captivity?

I'd say no. Not sure why though.

Not enough space?

I'm not sure if they breed in captivity or not. Howeverf, I'm fairly certain that the larvae have a long planktonic period and would be unlikely to surrive in captivity.
