Hermit Crab question

Is it normal for Hermit crabs to loose their large claw. I have had it happen to both my larger hermit crabs. The last one was about 2 months ago and he is doing fine. Then one happend last night The crab is still moving and seems to be OK. I'm just wondering why this happens and if there is anything I should be concerned about.

My guess is that another hermit wanted in his house and he /she got the short end or it had a bad moult. Are you adding lugols?

The claw will regrow with successive molts.
