Hermit Crabs - Win them now!

I found 3 more hermit crabs that I want to get rid of. I have been migrating over to snail only with the exception of the scarlet reef hermit. I thought it would be more fun to let someone win them that want them. These are three small blue leg hermit crabs to be given away to the first to correctly answer the next question.

Jackson Area Reef Club recently hit a milestone on membership. How many total club members were announced in a previous forum post?

It looks like we have three lonely homeless crabs. They will end up turning to crime and looking in dumpsters for food. :sad1: Poor guys. :bum:

What's the purpose behind snail only? (except Scarlets) or is it just a preference?

After over 5 years of having a mixed cleanup crew, I am finally tired of the hermits killing the snails. I have seen the blue leg hermits wearing various snail shells as they can be pretty aggressive. I have never seen a red scarlet hermit killing or wearing a tank mates shell. The scarlet hermit is kind of like a "stoner" crab. He may be laid back and not work hard, but he isn't aggressive and simply wants world peace. :)

I have seen this as well. Didnt know they were that aggressive tho. Figured they scavenged the shell. Have you seen a crab actually attacking snails?

Sometimes they scavenge and sometimes they take. I have seen them eating snails and pulling out my scarlets. They do not do this all the time. Blue legs are very busy on the rock work and usually out work the scarlets. I'm not saying don't get them, as many reef tanks out there have them as part of the crew. I just prefer to do without them. I can only speak of blue legs and scarlets as that has been my staple for years.
