Hi all New to hobby

sorry after looking up the definitions of the ro/di no we don't we go to a local shop to provide our salt water since we are new at this and it cost .79cents a gal

Welcome.

Save yourself money and travel time and purchase a rodi unit right away. You are going to need plenty of rodi fresh water on hand for daily topping off from evaporation. You can find a great unit, such as a 5 stage from Bulk Reef Supply for around $100.
I've purchased quite a bit of equipment so far in my first year of the hobby, I picked up an rodi unit on a whim early on, before realizing how important it was, and kissed the ground once the tank was up and running and realized how much top off was needed.
Best purchase yet.

Good luck!

so with that ro I just put it into the saltwater tank or what? we are starting off as slow as we can right now only spent 300 for the 60 gal tank the live sand and 6 live rock pieces, the back end 90 gal filter (for right now) and 69 gal of saltwater purchased at a saltwater only store

You will notice that the tanks water level is going to decrease slightly everyday due to evaporation. You must replenish this evaporation with fresh water, NOT SALT WATER. Salt will not evaporate with the water, and adding more salt water will make the salinity begin to climb. Only add more salt water when you remove salt water, during things such as water changes or acclimation.
Also, you do not want to use fresh tap water to top off the tank due to contaminants and other things that you typically would not want in your salt water tank. Therefore, an RODI unit sends the waters through various filters and spits out the purest water you could get your hands on. All you do is hook it up to your garden hose or sink faucet. I personally hook it up to my garden hose, and fill up two 55 gallon drums.

If you are new to the hobby, I highly recommend going through the sticky threads at the top of this forum, and start googling every question that pops in your head, as Google is a great way to search the reef central threads as they always pop up on the first page.
