Hi guys, I am new to this hobby. Just thought I drop in and say hi to fellow "Zonies"...

I am currently in the process of setting up a 40 Gallon Reef. Bought the RO/DI, MH lights, made a tank stand. LR and LS are on their way from Cali. My bro is driving them in. In the process of making water now for this weekend.

Any suggestions for a newbie just getting into this wonderful world of reef keeping?

Hi Mike, welcome. Adivise: READ all you can! There are so many ways to run a successful reef tank. Find that works in your budget with your time commitment and you will have a good time.

There are a few books out there that are great. For setting up a new tank, I highly recommend The Reef Aquarium Vol 3. Nothing is as detailed. The book covers lessons on plumbing, electricity, aquascaping, water parameters, etc. I have been doing this for a few years and learned more from this book than any other source of information, including RC.
Good Luck.

Definitely get yourself a good skimmer. And take it SLOW - don't add anything too fast, or too much at the same time. (except for rock and sand for initial set up)
