Hello!
My fiancee and I will be moving to Birmingham ( or there abouts) sometime in the next 45 days from Memphis. Her family is from there but up until now our jobs have kept us here in Tennessee. Well her folks finally got their wish and we are headed down as soon as I make my mind up which offer I would like to accept from several in the vicinity. We currently are members of the West Tennessee marine and reef aquarium Club of Memphis.
I have a 75g mixed reef and a 75g FOWLR tank. I was wanting to get some info on the reef scene ( I was very happy to see there is a club) in the area. Specifically, where is your club based? Where are the reef stores ect..? The handful of trips Ive made to your state have left me with a very good impression. The people have all been very friendly and the scenery is wonderful. ( Also I [ B] love [ B] the fact that I can grab a bottle of wine at the grocery!)
Looking forward to meeting many of you in the future and thanks for reading.

Hi! I'm fairly new to the the reef scene (though not to AL) and need to introduce myself to the bama reefers forum as well. I'm working on putting together a 75 gal mixed reef tank.

I can really only recommend one local store at this time- Aquarium Imports in Hoover. It's not a fancy, super clean store, but I feel like a lot of the good stores in any hobby are that way:-) They seem to have a good selection, and any time I have been there, the workers are glad to answer my numerous questions.

Hopefully some of the more experienced reefers will speak up about other local shops. I'm curious to know about one I've seen mentioned in Homewood. I also saw that there was a shop in Munford (they are listed as an ATI dealer), but I've never heard any mention of them on the forum.

well welcome to the the scene I know a few good local store around bham for example if you looking for wide variety of fish I would recommend Aquarium Imports in Hoover and if you all about the coral go to Aquarium Fantasy in Homewood. they have lot of good healthy corals and knowledgable as well. they would not sell you a coral that will create issue in your tank.

Welcome to the Alabama Reefers forum.

I'm not sure what we've got in the northern part of the state any more (or the southern, for that matter), but in the Montgomery area, there is Aquarium Fantasies (I think he still has a store at Homewood?), Atlantis Aquarium, Wet Pets (smaller and multi pet store), and Petland (same category as Wet Pets, but larger footprint). Lots of locals in the area have frags for sale in a regular basis (myself included).
