High alkalinity. Its been two weeks now and my 12 gallon reef still has an alkalinity of 17 or 18dkh I tnink. All my other parameters are great including ph(8.2) and calcium(450). I have been doing 10 to 20% water changes every other day. All I have using is ocean water from my lfs. Their ph reading is 8.2 and their alkalinity is 12dkh. The test kits I have been using are about 3 weeks old and their from I think nutrafin. I have ordered salifert tests kits for future testing.
Is there a salt mix that has a high calcium but produces a low alkalinity reading? I am thinking of starting to use this filtered water from this store because the ph is 8.1 or 8.2 and the gh is soft to see if I can lower the alkalinity some more.
