Hippo tang has ich

My hippo tang has white spots for about 3 weeks. I'm setting up my qt now.
Fish list:
Firefish
3 chromis
Christmas wrasse
Sailfin Tang
Potter's angel
My blue tang
Orange spotted rabbit fish.

I'm going to treat with coppersafe. I have several questions,

#1. With using copper, I don't need to seed the biowheel?
#2. How often water changes? And should be dt water or what I mix?
#3. I only have a 20 gallon long and I'm worried about the limited space.
#4. Will my sps make it over 9 weeks without a bio load.
#5. Top off water should be fresh only?

I've read snorvich's lists and mrturkfish but I'm selfish and would like to tailor this thread to my situation. Thanks for all ya'lls help.

I always like to remind people that fish can kick ich on their own - going the qt route sometimes may make situations worse - ammonia poisoning / cramped tank stress - just to name a couple

Imagine putting yourself in an empty room with only a chair to sit in for several weeks. You'd be a little stressed too.

adding a UV with the correct flow rate can cut down on the ich offspring population to help your fish recover

I know this isn't what you want to hear but I feel obligated to share. I'm sure to get flamed also, but welcome it. Everyone has their own way to do things - Just sharing mine.

Good luck :fish2:

Thanks for the replay. I have the 18w turbo twist running at 200 gph. While it has done an excellent job keeping my water clear so far it has kept my other fish from getting it. I have two more with it now.

have you looked at possible causes of stress that is continuing this ich outbreak? fish chasing each other? water quality? Tank size?

My sailfin tang isn't always nice to my hippo - especially during seaweed time

My sailfin tang chases my rabbitfish from time to time but leaves all else alone. I've had this tank up for a couple months over a year and it doses automatically. Feed once a day sometimes too much and i have a little algae breakout. I test religiously twice a week and do a 5% water change per week. Salinity is mixed in a 55 gallon trash can to 1.024 sg. I have a chiller so the temp only swings a couple degrees.
