Hippo tang jumped out of tank.

I hippo i have had for close to 10 years jumped out of the tank tonight. I have no clue how long it was out for but it was barely breathing and was about dry when i found it. I put it in the tank and it floated to the bottom and turned upside down with the current and remained that way. I righted it and guided it to the side of tank to be away from the anenome it was close to.
Its been there for about an hour now...breathing is very heavy and its starting to move its fins. Its still remaining in the same position and has not actually swam.

Does anyone have an idea to what i might expect for the outcome?

I have seen completely dried fish on the floor come back to life when back in the water so your going to have to wait and see. Try to keep him upright and hope for the best

I've had two tangs in cold water from a blown glass heater (never again) that fried the water and released a burn smell into the water: yellow tang made it, blue died shortly after. But it's possible. Not the same situation but my point is it may make it.

I've had wrasses land 4-5' onto tile floor and still survive, so I hope yours makes it

Woke up this morning and it was dead. No breathing whatsoever...dang! Ten years. He was the size of a quarter when i i bought him and was close to a foot now. Sucks!:sad2::sad2:

major bummer!!! i read post last night and was hoping for a good outcome... hippos are my favorite fish and ime they do crazy things sometimes.

Any chance you could post a photo of the fish in his hey-day? I'd like to see what a 10-year old, foot long blue tang looks like.

I'm sorry for your loss! You took very good care of him, and I'm sure it brought you lots of happiness.
