I just purchased some live rock at my LFS. I noticed later in the evening a perfectly formed 5 leg star maybe 1/8 inch across. The underside of this little guy is sand colored, the top is also sand colored but has a red ridge that follows the shape of the star and it's legs.
My question is, how do I know what type of star this is? I've read about Asterina anomala (Fiji star) and certainly wouldn't want them in the tank. There were very large stars in the tank that the rock came from (the largest was approx 1 ft across). Might this be a small fry of one of them?
