some may think this is a stupid question but oh well.
i just bought a 90 gallon marineland tank and my big @$$ maroon clown always stays in one corner and he swims not far away at all and he swims when im around sometimes and when i feed him..... im going to be putting a bubble tip anemone on a rock on his side
could i put another anemone on the other side of the tank and put regular percula clowns onn that side.....

my idea/method...... get anemone for maroon... 1 1/2 months later get another anemone and put it on other side of tank.... 1 month later buy some percula clownfish and this is the tricky part(((( if my maroon clown goes for them i need to seperate them somehow??? posible the maroon in a critter box or something along that line.. i will do this and let him out and watch for any signs of agression then put him back in if so

what do you all think... can i pull this off or who has a maroon with a diferent type of clown

If you're looking to provoke the maroon it sounds like a good plan Sounds like a bad idea, especially in a "small" tank. Just my opinion.

Maroons are nasty. I wouldn't put percs and maroons in the same tank. I once had a pair of clarkii's and a pair of maroons in a 180, on opposite ends of the tank with their own anemone's but I think a 4' tank is too small to do this. Even in my 6' tank, the female maroon would venture to the halfway point of the tank to meet up with the female clarkii and they would have a stare down only to return to their anemones. Clowns can be super aggressive, especially when there's anemones involved.

To sum up, no I don't think you should attempt this. Stick with 1 anemone and the maroon's if that's what you like. Adding more clowns will be a bad move.

i love my maroon to death but the thing is he isnt active unless he has an anemone..... which i need to get..... he sits behind the rock where the purple lobster is because he hates it so much and always tries getting it.
the perculas and black ocelaris are very active and i think it may work when i mean this thing stays in the corner it stays in the corner.

how do you feed your anemone and what do you feed it

If you put 2 percs in a 90 gallon tank with a 'big @$$' maroon clown, you'll be left with just the maroon clown. The maroon won't stay in the corner long when you add true or false percs. And the anemone will make the maroon want to defend it's space even more, IE: kill the other clowns. A 90 gallon tank is too small for this.

what type of anemone should i get and what type a fish that are extremely active i should get no bottom dwelers because i have the lobster and am picking my huge hermit crab up at the LFS in a few days

Are you concerned about a lobster or huge hermit crab tearing open your anemone to get food out? I wouldn't put an anemone in a tank with those tank mates. Sorry to be a downer but I think you should reconsider your stocking choices.

hmmm got a question. maroons start to get aggressive when they reach sexual maturity right? i have a maroon in a 75g reef but im worried bout him becoming a terror eventually from what i read. my question is, if i dont give my current maroon a mate or a nem to call its own do you think s/he will become a terror in the future? ive read bout them becoming terrors once they have a mate (and when they mate, oh boy watch out fish) and/or when they have an anemone to call their own but i havent heard horror stories of single maroons in a tank. thoughts? if the maroon will become aggressive later even tho s/he is single than id rather get it out sooner than later and replace with a perc or occy.

would you all recomemd this because i want my maroon to pair.... when im buying the anemone today should i get the smallest maroon clown they have and see if they pair or how should i pair my maroon

How large is the existing maroon clown? Good decision not to "sacrifice" a clown pair on the other side of the tank.

my tank has been running for 3 weeks and its just my clown. hawaiian flame wrasse. cleaner shrimp. purple lobster. a few dwarf hermit crabs. and my lfs had a great deal for me and i couldnt pass up i bought a pork fish for 10$

im buying the anemone in about 3 months when i get my baby blue spoted grouper

whats a porkfish? and my tank had issues with fish dieing and not being stable for a good 4 months. dont add anythign because youll risk having your fish die.

I'm confused...you said you were going to buy the anemone 'today' and then said in 3 months. Your tank is not ready for anemone at this point, and probably not in 3 months. As far as the other maroon goes, don't get one the same size as the one you have now! Another tip for you for when your tank IS ready for an anemone, don't get one too small. A small anemone could be killed by clowns that are too large for it and actually pester it to death. You're probably going to have to get a maroon that's smaller than the one you have, if the one you have now is very large. I'd rather get a bigger one than the established one, but you might not have a choice. A smaller one MAY get beat up by the established maroon...which is why a bigger one would be optimal.

Something to keep in mind though, is that maroons are especially nasty in captivity. And remember, the larger clown is the female. If she dies, the dominant male will turn female.

And lastly, a 90 is way too small for a blue spotted grouper. Baby or not.
