HOB overflows

I have a 180 and don't want to drill it. It came with an HOB dual drain overflow (not sure what brand). But I want to buy something new that I KNOW won't break the siphon. Does anyone have any experience with modding the U-tubes to prevent siphon breaking? Or know of a good brand that REALLY won't break siphon? I was looking at the CPR cs102 possibly, but don't see any reviews about it. Any help is much appreciated.

I dont want to drill because i like the look of a tank without a visible overflow box...also because all the glass is tempered  Plus it came with an overflow...figure i can probably sell that and put it towards my buy a new HOB overflow fund

that's a good reason! lol

those lifereefs are $$$ like $110 for the one I'd need

Lifereef is the best, but a hurricane or amiracle are nice as well. All three are utube's and set up properly will not lose syphon. I've been using a hurricane for 2+ yrs with no problems. My electricity has gone out for 8hrs at times and it never lost syphon. The hurricane and amiracle are half to one third the price as the lifereef.

The ctype overflows need a pump to function properly. I wouldn't suggest one as they tend to have problems eventually.

Lifereef is certainly the best way to go. I have one running on an RSM, it doesnt break siphon, doesn't get air bubbles, doesn't make me worry it will flood while I am away. They are expensive, but worth the money in my mind.
