HOB Skimmer pump.

I have an old HOB CPR bak pak style of skimmer I want to use for a sumpless grow out tank (I'm noticing oils on the surface). However I don't have a pump for this and I'm wondering what cheap pump I can get away with using. I was thinking something like a Rio 600 with the venturi parts on it, but I'm unsure if this is suitable for a skimmer pump or is this more an air bubbler type of thing, not sure if impeller will chop up bubbles at all. I'm thinking a tiny pump like that simply because it's compact and can fit inside of a skimmer box inside the tank. Now I have a Rio 600, but it doesn't have the venturi kit, which is why I'm leaning that direction.

Another option is the Rio without the venturi if that's not appropriate for skimmers, and simply cram a limestone connected to an air pump down inside the skimmer.

Any input would be much appreciated.
