Hofer gurgle buster

I am plumbing a tank and I don't have room for a durso. The bulkhead for the drain is 1.5in. Would I bet better to make the top half using 2in then using a reducer to 1.5? Or just use 1.5 for the whole thing. Hope that makes sense
Thank you

How big is your tank and how is it configured? What kind of flows are you hoping to achieve?

I'm not familiar with the Hofer gurgle buster, but from a brief google search, it appears to simply be a modified durso - an open channel standpipe. These are not capable of running very high flows. In general, the larger the tubing the more flow you can run quietly, but you will be limited by your bulkhead either way.

Depending what your goals are, I would advise drilling the tank and reconfiguring the overflow. You'll be happier in the long run.
