Holes in plating monti

Wondering if anyone has an idea what is causing these holes in one of my plating montis. I have several other montis and none of them are effected at all. Its been on going for the last year, the holes go all the way through the skeleton and gets very brittle around the edges of the hole. Usually i break away the brittle sections and it just ends up encrusting back over the area after some time. Ive never seen any pest on it and the fact that the holes bore all the way through the skeleton and not just flesh damage plus the fact that none of my other montis are effected takes nudis out of the question? Maybe this condition is caused by something other than pests? Any suggestions appreciated

Hmm just seems weird that ive never seen any pests on it and only this monti frag has been effected on and off since i got it over a year ago. I have 4 other montis (3 plating 1 encrusting) very close to this one that show no signs of damage at all. My new PacSun pandora s lights have a red seek and destroy moonlight setting i might have to use and do some night time viewing.

Mine sometimes does the same them it grows over eventually it's a natural thing I think

Curious if it has anything to do with water parameters. Gonna get my test kits out tonight as ive run out of calcium and havnt dosed for a nearly 2 weeks so i know my Ca will be low. Maybe its the first sps to shows signs of low Ca and the coral skeleton is deteriorating from it? Just a guess though cause i dont know if this is how it works with low calc...

It could be a start for disaster. :(your ca is low your alk will be low as well as ph . I would think by getting ph up to where is needs to be .than you can start to dose again and be consistent or you'll lose everything

Definitely hear you there mate. I auto dose so normally all param's are stable, unfortunately ran out of ca 1-2 weeks ago and am so tied up with new baby I haven't had a chance to stock up again. Doing so today so once home will start to tweak everything right again. Be interesting to see if the holes are actually a result of the low ca.

i discoverd it at night time with luck. i looked in the tank with a flashlight and saw it for a second or two. fast animal that lives in the rock at the bottom. your damage at the Coral looks like what i had but there can be many reasons. he was in a rock with Erythropodium caribaeorum on top of it and made severel holes in the Coral and a monti next to it. i recret i never made pics of it all. i have no tank at the moment but when i start again over a few months i put my fresh rock in my sump
