Holy Evap!

I've had my 75 up for about a year now and have typically lost between 1/2 and 2 gallons per day. I put in 2 canopy fans to stop mold growth about a week ago. That increased evap a little bit, but the heat of the last 2 days drove it up to 5 gallons per day! I never expected to be filling my topoff tank twice a day.

How is everyone doing with this heat?

Yup... My ato feeds off a 20gal brute... Normally at the end of each week The brute is about half empty. Last Friday when I got home from work the ato was pumping dry and the brute was empty which I had filled on Monday.... It did about 5/gal a day on a 120 system.

I run 4 fans over the tank pretty much all summer but I don't recall it drinking so much water this time last year...

I have to keep all of my equipment under my stand, so I'm limited to a 5 gallon tank.

My next project, after setting up the Apex coming, is going to be a basement sump. I want to get a 200-300 gallon stock tank that I can run shallow as a sump/frag/grumpy fish area now that will also serve me well when I can get a big tank.

I have my 100g sump in the basement with a seio to ripple the surface and a fan blowing right at it along with an exhaust fan in the ceiling....I still get temp errors if the AC in the living room isn't working. But atleast the humidity in the basement hasn't gotten too bad yet.

Most of the stories I head about basement sumps include their heaters running nonstop. I'm curious, what kind of lights and return pump do you have?

I have 3x 250MHs high up on coralvue lumen bright reflectors on the DT which is open (no hood) and an original reeflo tarpon pump (not the Uno) for a return. My house is a split level so even my basement is only half below ground and my house is on a small incline so my basement sump is actually above street level. (Try to picture that one ! :) )

I have a 1000W titanium heater controlled by my ReefKeeper Lite so I really don't know how often it's on, but I try to keep the temp at 80 and in the summer it spikes as high as 83 if I don't keep the main house at 72. In the winter? Who knows.. The heater's a beast so even when it's on I doubt it's on long. My basement is pretty small, so it doesn't really get too cold in the winter.
