home depot light for refugium?!

hi lately i've been hearing that people use "home depot" lights in their refugium to grow algaes such as chaeto. Exactly what type of light can be used?

$40 at most home depots, but some find them for $10 at walmart or costco.

I got a light from Home Depot Supply, a 18watt compact flourescent flood light. It was only $13 shipped, and is working great. If you want the part number Naperville Reef has it, just PM him.

The one I use is the compact flourescent spiral bulb. It screws into a normal desk clip on lamp, and has 65w output with 15w consumption. Works great!!!

Go lights of america. I have heard great things. I myself use a homemade fixture using 2 27 watt 5500k compact fluerescent bulbs. Whatever you choose try to keep above 5k and below 10k and the brighter the better.
