Would it be possible to substain and keep a horseshoe crab alive with daily hand fed feedings of large krill ? Not planning on getting one but just curious. :hmm1:
Not without a huge tank and a deep sand bed. They get to be over a foot across and nearly two feet long with the tail. They also like to burrow in the sand.
Theoretically, I'd say yes, but realistically, you are looking at tank that is 500+ gallons. And even that might be too small.
I have heard they can go in a 55 (which IMO is rediculously small...) but I thought they would fit in a 125 with nothing but sand. I wasn't planning on getting a horseshoe anyway but for future reference it made me wonder...

Yes, but the large krill may not work. I stick finely chopped frozen food into the substrate or hand feed straight to the animal. Good luck finding one and caring for it.
