How big are your drains?

My 600 I plan on using two 2" + one 1" drains. Return pump is a Sequence Dart. The 1" will be for the skimmer Feed.

2in drains and 1in returns on 336g

How big of a pump are you planing on using?
Tank size doesn't matter if your pump is going to out pump what the drain is able to support.

on a 560 I have 3, 1 1/2" wet with an extra 1 1/2" normally dry disaster drain (yep, it's come in handy). They handle the flow from a Barracuda with no problem.

4 X 1.5" on a 240. Sounds like a lot, but keeps the flow very quite and allows for several disaster scenarios. Also, I don't have boxes or standpipes. Mine are straight through the back wall at the waterline, which I adjust with elbows and strainers on each one. Best set up I've ever had...

My return is a Dart running wide open. Twin overflow boxes, each with a 2 1.5" drains...That's one for Herbie...one for emergency only in each box.

small overflow box with...

two 1.5 drains cj standpipes, two 3/4 inch returns, one 2 inch dry run for wiring and electrical. 300 gal display. Running only about 1500 gph via reeflo marlin in basement.

The sump compartment that feeds the pump will run dry and the feed will stop if the drains become clogged (my ato shuts off after 8 minutes). However, an additional dry drain is a great idea if you have the room!

I should also mention that my Dart return is at water level with no twists or turns so I'm getting most of the 3600gph it puts out.
