i just looked at the pump i am currently running .....it is a quiet-one 2200,it does 581 ghp. will this pump be enough for a 150 gal with a 40 breeder as a sump? im going to do the sump right under the tank.... in my stand. i have no clue as to how much pump strength i will need. anyone want to help me out on how to figure this out? is there some type of equation to use? i just want t a ball park ghp. thanks

Your going to want roughly a turn over rate of about 4500 gallons if your going reef. You can achieve this multiple ways, one being the return pump along with some power heads. A reef tank is roughly 30+x's your water volume. Fish only with live rock considerably less.

ok i looked at my equipment and here is what i have running on my 72 gal.

return pump....quiet one-220 =581gph
1 koralia 1050 = 1050 gph flow
1 koralia 550
1 maxi jet 900 =230gph

that adds up to 2411 gph......so im guessingi am going to need a return pump like a mag drive supreme = 2400gph ?
am i figuring this right? might be a stupid question but i am asking anyways

Head loss will significantly drop the pressure of your return pump. Keep that in mind. If it was me I would invest in a couple vortech power heads. They will greatly reduce dead spots in the tank.
