Drop a grenade in the tank, and pray that works.

Once that stuff takes hold it seems like it will flourish in the worst water conditions.

I know a local reefer who has a ton of xenia and anthelia in his tanks, he just peels and pitches on a regular basis to attempt to keep it pruned back.

Honestly, the people that seem to struggle with it are new setups with pristine water conditions

Send it to me I am very capable of killing xenia (unintentionally of course).

I can keep all other corals but not Xenia.

I'm going to tag along on this one. Anthelia and Xenia cover the rocks in my 120 SPS tank. No matter how much pruning I do, it just grows right back. I've got far too much mature SPS to take the rocks out.

Frag it and give it away, swap, or sell it.

I actually had to wait a while to get some until my LFS
was willing to frag some from one of the main display tanks.

Even then it cost me $30.00 for a little frag.

That's crazy... :eek2:

Most reefers I know who have it are constantly begging people to take it off their hands.

I have done this all ready. Take a squirter(turkey baster) and fill it with boiling water and squirt the heads you want gone.

And this is safe for the whole reef.

I used to gently peel it off the rocks and trade it to local hobbyists or trade into the LFS for store credit. It was a great way to get food, additives, corals and fish.

If you have a refugium, you can move it in there and let it thrive. Xenia is great for nutrient export;)

I get 7 bucks a head cash at an old LFS for it before I moved a few months ago. Make it work for you!

Ever since I started keeping SPS a few months ago, my growth has been absolutely stunted. Between taking much better care of my tank, increased lighting/flow, or whatever, I've had a hard time growing it. I can keep it, but my growth is nothing like it once was. Fine by me, I can't give it away now.

Thanks for all the replies. I have injected it wil hot water, sliced with a scapel, injected with Kalwasser and nada. The stalks are too hard to get at that I want gone and are wiping out a nice frag of sps. I will try boiling hot water. I already give the stuff away, but it grows back as I canot seem to get all the base of the rock.
Any other ideas will be accepted

Maybe get a condylactis anenome or a elegance coral even better.
Just park it there for a day or two and it will be stung to death.
I had half of a very large patch of xenia get killed that way.
Death by condy......

+1 on the death by stinging method. I put a frogspawn head near mine and it knocks it right out when it gets out of hand!
