How do I clean my Powerheads

I have 2 Seio 820's and want to clean them. They are full of algae. Any ideas? And if I am using a certain chemical to clean them how long before I can put them back in?

Thanks

In addition to cleaning the housing, make sure you soak the impeller assembly in full strength white vinegar also. The magnet/impeller should easily slide off the shaft and turn freely.

I need to do this to my seios at least once a month to keep them up to speed. An overnight soak and a little scrubbing will usually do the trick.

Rinse them out well, but don't worry about being too anal. A little leftover vinegar won't harm your tank.

I soak in a mix of vinegar and water a few hours. Usually have to scrub/pry that Seio impellar apart in the end which is risky as the shaft is cheap and cracks easily. I don't have Seios anymore but the process is the same with all pumps. Disassemble impellar, soak, scrub if needed.

I then reassemble and RUN the pump a couple hours in that water/vinegar solution.

Rinse in water or not, depending on my mood.
