how do I defeat Monti-nudis?

I've been fighting monti nudis for a while. I've had mixed results with dips. Short-term they work but the pests come back. From what I've read, this is a common result. Is there any other method? Also, if I go "monti-less" in my display tank for a while, will they nudis die off? I'm getting pretty frustrated.

I hear ya I've been fighting them as well, thankfully I just have 1 med size frag about 4"x 3" and everytime I dip I only find 1 on it and then no damage for about a week then I see damage again dip, once again I find another, each time I scrub with a toobrush, cover any eggs with superglue.

Oh yea I've read that article and there was a disscussion on this a little while ago that appraently after that was written it was found not to be effective, and a little dangerous to use, I've been too scared to try it, besides for me at least worst case I loose 1 frag I got for free anyway...

Can anyone tell me: if I remove the Monti's from my tank, will the nudi's die off? (Like going fishless to get rid of ich)

Yes. 6 - 9 months, minimum. The best method IMO, is saving small frags, revive dip, CAREFUL inspection for nudis and egg masses, and place them in a clean system until you can reintroduce them into your DT. Natural predation, and permanganate baths are not 100%, unless you have a very small number of corals, and small colonies where the nudis can't hide in areas not accessible by your fish.

As far as KMnO4 goes, it isn't 100% effective, especially if you have a large number of corals. It is also very hard on them, esp. capricornis and digitata species. You will likely lose over half of those 2 species from the dips
(if you can even get the potassium permanganate). Save some frags, and throw the rest away, it'll save yourself a lot of headaches.

and I think I just heard someone say 'quarantine.'
