how do i frag xenia?

i have a ton of it growing in my tank and people are im'ing me to buy some. do i just cut it? or try and pop some of the rock? thanks. also whats a good price for the stuff. i see it sold online for 15 a stalk but that seems high! anyways it is that pinkish colored pulsating xenia

Yes, multiple ways. Easiest is if you want it to regrow in the tank then just cut it off at the base using some stainless steel scissors, chuck the little bits in a container with rock rubble and low flow and wait for them to attach. If you dont want it to regrow in the display then try and remove the stalk using a blade and try and cut a sliver of rock off as well. Its very easy to scrape a thin piece of rock off.

I built an acrylic box with a bunch of small holes in the removable lid. I fill it with rubble and toss the pieces in. They attach in a couple days, then you (or someone) can glue the little pieces of rubble to a different rock if needed.

I used to place a small rock next to, and just above a display Xenia. In a couple weeks the Xenia would spread to the new rock and I would separate them, sometimes with the help of a razor blade. I would then take that rock and move it to a frag tank and repeat the process.

I normally don't frag in my display, only "prune" as needed. So I haven't tried all the other methods. Xenia is usually very tough but if pushed too far it will quickly melt away.
