How do I get the blue base back on my Superman monti?

I got this in a frag pack of sps, and it had a nice blue base when it arrived. Pale blue, but nice. I just figured it was from being shipped, and it would color back up in a few days or so.
It hasn't. In fact, it has lost even more of the blue coloring.
I had it about 10 inches away from the top of the tank.
I have just moved it into my other tank, and placed it higher up. About 6 inches from the top.
It has great polyp extension, and looks like it might be starting to get some blue back.
But I have to ask, did I move this too high? Or should I move it higher?
I will try to get a pic of it, and post it later.
I guess I am just asking for the best placement for it. Or where you have your's (if you have one) in your tanks.
Thanks.

I think you made the right move by going higher. A kneejerk reaction I think more commonly comes with the more common softies and put them in lower light but SPS absolutely love it

Many of the threads i've had the chance to read on the sps forum that talk about color involve moving things up.. Its only been a week or so hasn't it? I'd give it some time and see how it does under the higher light. With good polyp extension and looking healthy in general, just give it a little time to color up and I'm willing to bet that should work

If you notice it getting worse, of course it'll be time to try something different but .. a bridge to cross if the time comes :)

If it helps I have 4x54 W T5s and I keep my sps 3-6" from the surface of the water and my lights are maybe 4-5 inches off the top.. I got my hands on a nice rainbow monti that is similar and only the top tip of it is really blue even though the polyps display in that rainbow fashion and i keep it as up high as i can in my tank.

HTH!
