How do I get this to work, the skimmer part

This is a venturi protein skimmer. That means the microbubbles are created by the flow of the water and the small airhose tube.
Google for more information on how the venturi works.

Anyway this should be a hang-on skimmer.
Just hang it on your tank and make sure the pump is submerged in the water(i thing its an internal pump) and the airhose is outside of the water.

Plug the pump and it should run.

The air comes from the line attached to your feed pump. There is an airline tubing that should be attached to it, the other end should be exposed to air. Hang it off the back of your aquarium and plug it in.

Nope, just add water to it like you would with a HOB filter, then plug it to the power and adjust it to get some foam out to the collection cup.

Be aware protein skimmers ship with some oils from the injection molding process and need a 2 week breakdown period. Two weeks from now you should be an expert.

It's a actually a good skimmer. Good luck.

I am pretty sure you do not need to make adjustments to this skimmer. I am only saying that because that's one of the reason's I bought it. Easy to use.

Any and all skimmers needs adjustments for optimal performance. Yes, it may be user friendly. But, no plug and play. Good luck on your purchase.

Just remember to adjust the air intake so that the maximum amount of tiny bubbles are created.
Mass amount of tiny bubbles is the main goal.
