How do I know?

In another post it was mentioned that zoas were reaching for light and may not be enough in that area for my hammer.
I increased both white and purple by 10% that's the lowest increase I can make. The hammer seems to open up a bit more, ie the top seems to expand more. However I read somewhere that they can get brown at the tops if too much light. Also how do I know zoas like it, all of them green and orange all seem to open fully where they are.
Any advice be appreciated.

Everything looks fine to me. Being that you did increase the lighting though give it a week or so before you do anything else. See how the corals respond during this time and go from there.

Thanks for the reply. I just assumed that the green zoas were different type to the orange ones and grew on stalks whereas the orange ones stay flat. Will see how things go over the next 7 days or so.

There are definitely zoas that will always show long stalks, and some that will always be flat against the rocks.

I find zooanthids grow well in any spot and mostly any light.
When they grow on stalks, these are generally palys, and you may also see some sand inside the stalk, otherwise the flat are zoos....use caution....palys can be toxic to us when ingested or through the skin, zoos are more forgiving, both spread fast...
