Noise is def not the only downside to a durso, only having one drain is the biggest downside in my opinion. Herbie and Bean Animal have emergency drains which can save your floor and tank if your main drain clogs.

OP, the Herbie is not hard to set up with a reef ready tank. Just follow that linked gmacreef article, easy peasy. You'll get a quieter system with an additional emergency drain, no contest imo.
