I saw a picture in this forum I believe it was last week and the photographer did not know how he took it. I am looking to the pros to find out. It was a picture that focused on the center object, and everything else almost looked to spin around it like a kaliedascope(sp?). The only object close to complete focus was the center object. the only other way I can describe it is maybe like the suns rays protruding from the center object. Anyone possibly help me as to how this is accomplished. Possibly add you similar pics to this thread for comparison.
Thanks, Scott

I'm sure it had nothing to do with actually taking the picture but rather an effect/filter/plugin within photoshop. I think I remember seeing it as well.

got ya, thanks blazer.

Hey, I sent you a pm a few days ago and your response was cancelled because my box was full. Can you resend your responce to my PM?
Thanks, Scott

I know with certain continuous auto focus' you can have radiating streaks coming out from a center focus... you accomplish this buy jerking the camera forward or backwards during the exposure, I suppose you could rotate the camera as well to add some "spin" to the blurred region.

I haven't yet perfected the technique but I know it is possible.

Are you talking about a pic like this (or even this pic) ??

I am not sure what camera he is using, but you can get this same effect with a DSLR body and a "zoom" lens at a slower shutter speed... After you press the shutter release you can "zoom" in or out (depending on the effect you want)...

This (as far as I am aware) does not work on a point and shoot camera because usually once you press the shutter release you are not able to operate any of the buttons on the camera until the shoot is taken...

I guess you could get that affect with a DSLR. I'm guessing it would have to be a longer exposure and a small f-stop to get a large enough DOF to keep the center point in focus. You just gave me something to try :)
