I just bought my first LPS and am very excited. I have had him for about two weeks and he has been extending out farther and farther since I acclimated it in. Please give excuse the low quality pictures but my aquarium has temporarily drained my cash flow.:) Please give me your opinions.

that's good expansion for hammers, they won't come out like a frgspawn or torch. is it branching? I can't tell, doesn't look like it tho, just curious.

I have never seen one branch, what are the charachteristics of one while splitting?

This is why I was asking if it was going to expand out more. I didn't know what it was doing I thought it bmight just be really happy and part of it was at it's full length.

If you feed it some meaty foods like shrimp, silversides, scallops, etc. once or twice a week, you will see those sweeper tentacles less often. Plus your hammer will be EVEN happier!

Nice find though, it is very healthy looking. Can you get a picture of it closed up at night? Looks to me like it may be an anchor hammer, not branching...

Good Luck and Happy Reefing,

It doesn't close at night. If you look at the first group of pictures and scroll right you will see what it looks like at night.
