How do you quarantine a tang?

if tangs need a minimum of 4 feet of swimming space, is it possible to quarantine new tangs in smaller tanks without stressing them out? What would be the minimum tank size that you can safely quarantine a tang for 4-6 weeks?

I want to get a yellow tang. perhaps i should buy the smallest one.

I QT all fish in a standard 29g tank and I currently have a Sailfin tang in there for about a month. It might stress them out but mine has been doing great and will be making the switch to the display in about a week.

I prefer to use sterilite or tupperware tubs to QT larger fish. They are fairly cheap and easy to clean. The swimming area is also much larger than a standard 20-30 gallon tank.

the only problem with those tubs is that they are usually solid or opaque, so it's difficult to really inspect the fish if there's ich or other problems since you're only able to look down on the fish.

i use a 50 gallon as my qt the whole setup was probably 200 dollars which is nothing compared to what im spending on my 280 and fish to keep them living long healthy lives.

They make a 33 gallon long which is 4 feet long and usually only about 50 bucks depending on what store is selling it. It has treated a few of my fish very well as a QT.
