How does this look?

Here's what I have to work with:

Here's what I want to do:

52834Aquarium-Stand-1.jpg

I've cut out the corner chamber to give a full 18" x 18" display tank. The panel will wrap around the side about 6" to hide the line where the corner chamber was. The baffles will remain in place and I'm going to either attach black acrylic to the back and the baffle or take a sander to them and just make them opaque.

The stand will be walnut done in a Victorian Shaker style (cope and stick doors and frames with either solid or crotch/burl veneer panels set in) There will also be a band around the top of the tank to hide the water line.

Circulation will come from a WavySea attached to a pump. I have an Eheim 1250, Mag 7 & 9.5 to choose from. The pump will sit in the last chamber and come out through a bulkhead in the side. ( The stand extends 2 or inches beyond the tank on the back and side to account for plumbing). The other bulkhead will be plumbed to a drain in the stand. All I'll need to do is put a bucket in, open a valve and drain out 5 gallons. Then just add new water to the tank and the water change is done. There will also be a heater in the sump (no skimmer as the total volume is only about 30 gallons).

The light bar will be attached to the top with a mortised hinge so that it can be swung up and out of the way. The top will probably have the same arrangement (or the top and light bar will be connected together).

There will be 2 doors the width of the display area with slide out shelves for 2 part, food, etc.

Anything I'm overlooking, you'd change, etc?

Can't say I'm follow'n all the baffles and holes but like paulamrein said, "looks sweet." I look forward to seeing this thing come together.

it looks good on paper "computer". It looks like it should come out looking good. Is that you in the back?

Actually, I run more towards poodle skirts and pumps.

It's going to go in our new offices if/when we actually build them. I don't know if it will go in a corner or be freestanding so all three sides will be furniture quality. If the office remodel gets pushed back, it will pop up someplace in the house and I'll have to try and convince my wife that it has been there all along...

As far as the baffles and holes - all of the stuff closest to you in the corner is gone now. The first baffle with three holes will be the boundry of the display. I'm going to sand it so it's opaque. The 6" beyond that will be the "sump".
