How fast do corals grow?

I'm new to this and have put a few mushroom corals in my tank. I was wondering how fast they grow on average and how quick they spread? Trying to figure out how many to add to my tank. The ones I have are just small, like 1/4" size singles.

it depends on the species, lighting, nutrients, i could go on for hours. some stuff does grow faster than others, my mushrooms split pretty often, maybe every 2-3 weeks. there are way to many variables to give you a definate answer. post some pics if you can, everyone loves pictures on this site!! hth

For shrooms, placement really matters imo. Finding the spot in the tank that has the right amount of lighting and flow can be difficult and might take some adjusting. I've found med light and low/med flow to suite shrooms nicely. Once they are comfy they'll start to grow. ;)

can someone please tell me how to make a reef tank....i haven't figured it out yet..there is a 50 gallon tank at my house, and i want to turn it into a reef tank and put seahorses in it..i need help........i have the tank ,sump, correct pipes and stuff, and everything else i need....i just want to turn it into a reef tank before i get seahorses. can someone tell me which corals are harmless to seahorses and post pictures of them PLEASE. THANX

PokeHero, you might want to post a new topic about it.

Though, I highly suggest doing a great deal of research before you delve in. Good luck!

IF ya want your shrooms to split then put them in moderate to high flow. They don't like it and will in turn move to a new spot to find better residence. Once they move tho they leave behind a foot that will turn into another shroom, most of the time.

i would not start out with sea horses if i were you, they are very difficult to keep and need very stable water and a really specialized tank. try your luck with some reef fish and soft corals first. GO SLOW, or you will be spending a lot of money bc you went to fast. hth.
