just checked to see how level my floor is where my tank is going using a spirit level and its not perfectly level, the bubbles inbetween the lines but more to one side than the other.

level enough?? not level enough??

The floor would seem to be level enough that a few shims under the stand will solve the problem. You want the tank to be as level as possible.

I would say it really depends on what size the tank is. It should be level but I don't think it's as big of an issue on smaller tanks.

on my 180 I found that it not being level annoyed me...I had to slow one of the two drains to get it to quiet down...if its possible to adjust it, I would

Depending on how big the tank is, I would say you want it to be perfectly level. Especially on big tanks, where the weight is extreme. The only way a glass box is able to support several thousand pounds is that the shape of the tank, given that it is level, distributes the weight evenly to the four corners. If you start to tilt the tank you put stress on the seams, and especially the panes of glass on the axis of the tilt. Over time this can result in a catastrphic failure.

As Ol' Ben Franklin said, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

My house is really, really old and my wood floors are insanely unlevel. I just made sure the top of the stand was level and shimmed it at the floor the best I could. As long as the surface the tank sits on is flat, I think the rest being level is mostly an aesthetics thing, as long as it's not off by over and inch. If you think it being off a bit is gonna bother you, just keep the water above the black top brace and you won't even be able to tell.
