How long before adding a Bubbletip?

Hi all,

I have a new setup that is doing pretty well at the moment, its been up and running for a little over 6 weeks. I used cured live rock that was out of the water for 10 minutes before going into my system and there wasn't any die off.

I also used live sand to establish a good biological foundation in my tank (I know you can seed normal sand very quickly, but i got a very good deal on Caribsea sand)

I have a good collection of CUC which i will be adding to very shortly...

Stock so far is a Bicolor Blenny and a pair of Clarkii Clowns and i plan to keep it at this for a while.

I understand that there is a certain "rule of the thumb" when it comes to Anemone's and mature, stable tanks, and i am patient, but hey, it can't hurt to ask right? :D

My question is the title basically, when can i add one? What should i be looking out for? I.e. Swings in parameters etc before adding one..

Tank is 47g and has 6x39w T5's over it :)

Light seems good test your water perimeters.ıt is a matter of time yes but some tanks are ready in few weeks some are in months some never.Only way to tell testing your water and watching your tank if everything going alright in it and like you said if it is stable maybe you are ready for a bta. From your system(LR and Caribsea sand) i guess you should be ready soon.

standard recommendation is about six months to a year, but if your tank is stable you could probably get away with doing it earlier, especially if you have been keeping saltwater tanks a while. Watch out for thise clarkiis, though. Mine killed two btas by smothering them to death. good luck!

Yeah wait a little bit, nothing like doing it all the right way just to have something die and make for nasty cleanup. Plus it would be a big wast of money right?

Thanks, Parameters seem good at the moment, will continue to check to make sure there are no swings.

I hear ya, they are like mini Bulldozers.

Indeed.

Got no problem with waiting, but ideally, i would prefer it if the Anemone was the first Coral (Well i say Coral, you know what i mean) in the tank, such as to avoid it going walkabout and annoying others.

Agree make it first! Then it get's somewhat comfortable before moving for the first of 300 times.
