how long sps tank without sump, skimmer..

Hey guys,

How long survive sps Tanks without a sump and without technic?

Whould you do some Waterchanges in e.g. 2 weeks.?

I must put my sump on my new tank today an will be started the system with the 14day method from Korallenzucht!

what would you say????

I thinks its no problem, when i make 2 or 3 waterchanges!

I agree; I've ran mine skimmerless in the past. I did 20% weekly, which works out to be about the same things (although smaller changes are probably less stressful).

You'll be fine with a little extra care.

I dont have a skimmer at all in a 12 gallon and i do a 10% water change each week. I have never had problems and i have good color and growth on my sps.

I agree, as long as your parameters are stable and your keeping your nutrients low via wc's i can see no reason why it wouldnt be fine for a few weeks..

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I've had to run my tank skimmerless for several months now. I try to do about a 10-20% water change every week to 10 days. Granted, I'm battling some hair algae (although I think this is probably due to overfeeding the fish), but my corals (all hardy Montiporas) are doing well, with good growth and color and excellent polyp extension. I've also been able to keep featherduster worms alive and thriving for the first time.
