How long to soak bio pellets

So how long? I heard 24 hours was excessive...and is it necessary to soak a small amount that you would be adding for a small top off.

I don't really pre-soak mine at all even if adding a new batch (Ecobak Plus pellets.) Mostly, though, I just check/clean the reactor every couple months or so, add to what's there, give them a little stir with water in the reactor, and take out any floaters.

Gotcha thanks, I'm slowly getting schooled up on the world of bio pellets...glad I didn't just get on BRS and buy one, theres A LOT you have to watch out for it seems, and or ask questions about before you get one lol. I think I'v finally got all the basis covered though.

I've been using them about 3 years and have had good success. A good skimmer, having the reactor output near the skimmer, and a reactor that doesn't cause the pellets to clump or churn violently are keys to them working properly. (The accel aquatics biopellet reactor is very good in case you are still looking at reactor options.) Also, starting with a slightly smaller than recommended dose initially can help limit the bacterial bloom that generally comes after you start using them.
