Mine is coming from miracles, 7ft L x 36w x 30 h...... And it has 6 legs on a metal stand? yikes? he said its fine... And maybe I'll put some oak floor pieces under each leg so the wood does not dent in at all?

what do you guys have and any recommendations?

My 750 has one end resting on a wall (built in) the other end has 4 2" square tube steel legs with 4x4" 1/4"steel pads on the bottom, mine is sitting on concrete (2" slab) and has caused no problems. If you are not on concrete I would reinforce your floor, murphys law will ensure your placement puts the legs inbetween the floor joists. I would place a sheet of 3/4" or better yet 1" plywood under the whole thing and place a lip around it, 1 to contain spills and 2 to give you something to attach any trim work too, I suck at doing up fancy graphics but think of it like a giant tray that your tank would sit on.

i think that it will be fine.
400 X 8lbs per gal = 3200 then / 6 = 533lbs. and your rock will weigh less per sq ft then water so it will be less then 533lbs per foot.

but, you can go to lowes, and get some aluminum or steel that is 3/8ths thick and make a 6x6 square or larger, and this will distribute the weight from one sq in to the 6x6 sq in. which will only be 14lbs per in. (in theory)

i wouldnt place a piece of wood/plywood the size of your stand on the floor, because if there is any splash or incident, it will hold water between the oak and plywood.

another option is to get 2 - 7ft strips of oak, and have them polyed on both sides and place your stand on it. that way the stand will dent the strip and not the actual floor under it. (what a few dollars verses replacing the floor later)

I'm a firm believer in overbuilding everything by a factor of 10.. I'm pretty sure I could put a sherman tank on my stand. Any decent weld shop could add on to the stand very easily but I imagine with any normal use they know exactly what they can use on their stands. It also will make it much easier to get under it
